Talk to the people around you — even with no signal.
Close2Me is a messaging, calling, and file-sharing app that runs over Bluetooth — no Wi-Fi, no mobile data, no account, and no servers in the middle. Direct conversations are end-to-end encrypted.

Features
Everything you need to stay connected, off the grid
Built for the places and moments where the internet isn’t an option — without trading away your privacy.
Works with zero signal
Close2Me talks over Bluetooth, so it keeps working when there’s no Wi-Fi, no mobile data, and no cell tower in sight — festivals, flights, trails, protests, or an outage.
No account, no phone number
There’s nothing to sign up for. Your device creates its own private identity on the spot — no email, no SIM, no profile living on someone else’s server.
End-to-end encrypted direct chats
Messages, calls, and files sent over a direct link are sealed with an authenticated Noise XX + ChaCha20-Poly1305 channel. Only the two devices involved can read them.
Verify who you’re really talking to
Every identity is backed by an Ed25519 key. Compare fingerprints or scan a QR code in person to be certain a conversation is with the right person — not an impostor.
Calls & voice notes nearby
Start a voice call or send a voice note to a connected peer. Audio streams directly between the two devices.
Share photos & files
Send images and files straight to nearby devices. Received files are sealed with authenticated encryption before they touch storage.
Reach further with mesh
Out of Bluetooth range? Packets can hop across nearby Close2Me devices to reach further. Each radio hop is encrypted on the wire.
SOS for when it matters
Raise an SOS to people around you when you need help and the network is down. Built for the moments ordinary apps go dark.
How it works
Connected in three steps
Turn on discovery
Open Close2Me and switch on nearby discovery. Your device starts advertising over Bluetooth and listening for others.
Find people around you
Compatible devices appear in your nearby list. Tap one to open a secure Noise handshake — optionally verify their fingerprint in person.
Talk, call & share securely
Message, call, or send files. Direct conversations are end-to-end encrypted and never routed through a Close2Me server.
Privacy & security
Private by design — and honest about the edges
Close2Me is built offline-first so your conversations don’t depend on anyone else’s server. We only claim what has actually shipped, and we publish a detailed, phase-accurate security assessment so you can check our work.
Encrypted direct links
Content over a direct established link uses an authenticated ChaCha20-Poly1305 channel from the Noise XX handshake.
Authenticated identities
An Ed25519 identity proof is bound into every handshake, with fingerprints you can compare or verify by QR.
Platform-protected keys
Your private identity key is wrapped by Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain — not left as plain data in a database.
Files sealed at rest
Received attachments are sealed with a versioned XChaCha20-Poly1305 envelope before they’re written to storage.
Analytics that can’t see you
Telemetry is designed to exclude message content, peer IDs, keys, names, Bluetooth addresses, and exact location by design.
Honest about the limits
Mesh relay is encrypted hop-by-hop, not end-to-end. We publish a phase-accurate assessment so you know exactly what’s protected.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Close2Me’s core features work entirely over Bluetooth between nearby devices. No Wi-Fi, no mobile data, and no cell coverage are required.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There’s no sign-up, email, or phone number. Your device generates its own private identity locally, and your conversations stay on your device.
How far away can people be?
Roughly Bluetooth range — typically a room, a building, or a crowd. Messages can also hop across other nearby Close2Me devices (mesh relay) to reach a bit further.
Is everything end-to-end encrypted?
Direct conversations between two connected devices are end-to-end encrypted with Noise XX. Multi-hop mesh forwarding is encrypted on each radio link, but an intermediate relay device processes what it forwards — so we don’t claim end-to-end across the whole mesh. See the Privacy Policy for the exact boundaries.
What data do you collect about me?
The apps use Firebase for bounded analytics, performance, crash diagnostics, and config. The event vocabulary is designed to exclude message content, identifiers, keys, names, Bluetooth addresses, exact location, and attachment details. Full detail lives in the Privacy Policy.
Is there an iPhone version?
iOS is built and coming soon to TestFlight and the App Store. Android is available on Google Play today.
